It looks like Arling Haaland’s future could be resolved sooner than expected. The Borussia Dortmund striker scored twice against Freiburg last night and in subsequent statements in the mixed zone admitted that the German club was pressing him to make a decision.

The Norwegian said: “Borussia Dortmund is pressing me to make a decision about my future. Although I only want to play football now, I will probably start negotiating very soon.”

Dortmund’s CEO, Hans-Joachim Watzke, echoed these statements and tried to calm the atmosphere, although he reiterated Haaland’s message after the Bundesliga match. He apologized to himself: “He’s a spontaneous person, young man. He is allowed to do so. There is no problem with Erling.” But, he added, he “must have some understanding of our situation because we can’t wait until the end of May.”

Although there is a contract with Dortmund until June 2024, there is an exit clause this summer after paying €75m. Despite the delicate economic situation that Barcelona is going through, Joan Laporta is determined to make a huge effort to get the Norwegian to celebrate his goals at Camp Nou next season.
