Barcelona’s management announced the signing of Youssef Demir, a player from the Austrian team Rapid Vienna, for a season on loan, with the right to buy.
Barcelona said, in an official statement: “The Catalan club has reached an agreement with Rapid Vienna on loaning Yusuf Demir to Barca during the 2021-2022 season.”
He added: “The club will pay 500,000 euros during the loan, with a non-compulsory purchase eligibility for 10 million euros.”
He continued: “Youssef Demir was born on June 2, 2003, and he was playing in the first team of Rapid Vienna for two seasons, and he played 31 games and scored 6 goals, and also participated for the first time with his country.”
He concluded: “Demir is a left-footed player with high quality, and he can play in all attacking positions, especially in the wing or in the middle.”
Youssef Demir is Barcelona’s fifth deal, during the current summer Mercato, as the Blaugrana recently contracted with Aguero and Eric Garcia from Manchester City, Emerson from Real Betis, and Memphis Debady from Lyon, France.
The club indicated that Demir, nicknamed “Austrian Messi”, will undergo medical and fitness tests, along with nine other Barcelona “B” players, and will start training with the first team on Monday, in preparation for the season (2021-2022).
Demir will become the second Austrian player to wear the “Blaugrana” shirt after his famous compatriot Hans Krankl (68 years), who defended the Catalan team’s colors in 61 official matches and scored 44 goals, during the period (1978-1981).
