Tottenham are close to kidnapping a strong defensive deal from Barcelona during the current summer transfer window.
The reliable Italian journalist, Fabrizo Romano, confirmed to “Sky Sports” that Tottenham is the closest to contracting a defender from the Atalanta team, surpassing Barcelona.
“Tottenham remains the only club to lead the race for Christian Romero,” Fabrizio Romano wrote on his official account on the social networking site “Twitter”.
He continued, “Talks are underway with Atalanta to reach an agreement, work is in progress tonight, and Tottenham have reached an agreement on personal terms with Romero.”
He added, “Barcelona did not make any official or verbal offer, because they have different priorities.”
The 23-year-old Romero plays for Atalanta on loan from Juventus, which he joined a year ago in 2020 and signed a contract that extends until 2022.
