Today, press sources revealed that Barcelona’s board of directors, led by Laporta, made its final decision regarding the fate of the French national team player, Samuel Umtiti.
Umtiti was among the names that the Catalan club wanted to leave this summer to solve the economic crisis and put the club back on the right track in economic terms.
According to the Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo, Samuel Umtiti will continue at Barcelona this summer.
He added that the French player met with the president of Barcelona, Joan Laporta, to explain the reasons for his desire to continue.
He stressed that the meeting resulted in the player staying in the team this season and he will have the opportunity to play.
He indicated that the Frenchman is also ready to reduce his benefits, as are other players such as Gerard Pique and Jordi Alba, who agreed to reduce their salaries so that the club is back on the right economic track.
Umtiti knows it’s not a priority for Ronald Koeman, but he wants to have the chance to convince him he can get back to his best.
