During the last hours of the elapsed transfer market, Barcelona striker Antoine Griezmann moved to Atletico Madrid, on loan for one season, and the Spanish newspaper Marca revealed interesting details in the loan contract of the French striker.
Barcelona decided to loan Antoine Griezmann to Atletico Madrid until the end of the current season for 10 million euros, with the possibility of extending the loan for another season, in addition to obligating the purchase after the end of the loan period for 40 million euros. This is almost a third of the amount that Barca paid to sign the player in the summer of 2019.
Atletico Madrid is not obligated to buy Griezmann
And the newspaper pointed out in its report that the clause to buy Griezmann after the end of the loan is not binding on Atletico Madrid, because there are some conditions that must be met first.
The report added that Roji Blancos stipulated in the contract that Griezmann reach a certain number of matches in order for the purchase option to become binding, and if the player cannot reach this number, Atletico can return the player to Barcelona.
Marca also confirmed that Atletico Madrid has the right to buy Griezmann at any time he wants during the loan period, for the same amount stipulated, which is 40 million euros.
On the same night, Barcelona signed Luc de Jong on loan for one season from Seville. FC Barcelona has a non-compulsory purchase option. In addition, part of the salary will continue to be paid by the Andalusian club, according to sources from FC Barcelona.
