Club president Juan Laporta wants to lead the talks himself, as he sees the player as valuable to the club and not to be compromised.
The Spanish newspaper Sport revealed that Barcelona is ready to extend the contract of the French team’s winger, Osman Dembele, in the coming period.
According to Sport, the club’s management has already informed the player’s agent of their willingness to extend his contract with the team.
It is expected that the player’s agent and the club’s sporting director will sit down in mid-September in order to agree on the basis of the new contract.
The club understands that the player also wants to renew his contract, which expires next summer, and to remain linked to the Catalan club, and he also informed the administration after there was an intention to leave.
Dembele suffers from an injury he suffered during Euro 2020, and the player has not been able to participate in any matches since the beginning of the season.
Dembele participated in 44 matches last season, during which he scored 11 goals and assisted five others.
