After contracting with former Barcelona star Lionel Messi in order to achieve his dream of obtaining the Champions League
The European Football Association (UEFA) suspended Paris Saint-Germain’s winger, Angel Di Maria, for 3 matches in the 2021/2022 Champions League season.
Paris Saint-Germain begins its European campaign against Club Brugge next week, but without the Argentine international, after signing a penalty in the European Football Association after he was expelled against Manchester City in the Champions League semi-finals last season at the “Etihad” stadium.
Paris Saint-Germain lost that match with a score of 2-0, and completed the match with ten men after Di Maria was sent off in the 69th minute after a major intervention on Manchester City midfielder Fernandinho.
The penalty was approved by UEFA on June 8, but no one paid any attention to it until today, according to the French newspaper Le Parisien.
Thus, Di Maria will miss the matches of Club Brugge on September 15, Manchester City on September 28, and Leipzig on October 19, after which he will return in the second leg against Leipzig on November 3.
The European Football Association (UEFA) has imposed a fine on Paris Saint-Germain of 16,000 euros for unsportsmanlike behavior on the part of the team, in addition to 35,000 euros for being responsible for delaying one of the two matches due to Mauricio Pochettino.
