A Spanish press report blew up a heavy-caliber surprise about Argentine star Lionel Messi, before his departure from Barcelona.

Messi, 34, left Barcelona for free in the last summer transfer season, and moved to Paris Saint-Germain, in a free transfer deal, after attempts to extend his contract with the Blaugrana failed.

According to the Catalan newspaper “Sport”, Messi did not mind Barcelona selling his young talents, including Ansu Fati, in order to improve the club’s economic situation, and then renew his contract with the Catalan team.

The newspaper stressed that Joan Laporta, Barcelona president, resisted internal pressure to sell Fati and keep Messi, as he categorically refused to give up the young striker.

Ansu Fati’s contract with Barcelona is scheduled to expire in 2022, but the club has the possibility of unilateral renewal for another two years, but the Catalan club wants to renew the player for the next 5 years, with an improvement in his salary.

Earlier, Barcelona announced that its young player, Fati, had been given the number 10 shirt that star Lionel Messi wore with the Barca team.

The Catalan club published a video on its official page on the micro-blogging site “Twitter” showing Fati getting the number “10”, and wrote: “Made in La Masia”, in reference to the Barcelona Academy, from which Fati and Messi graduated. Guinea-Bissau, but decided to represent Spain.

It is worth noting that Fati is the youngest player to score a goal for Barcelona in the Spanish League, after he scored a goal in his team’s match with Osasuna in the Spanish League in August 2019.
