Barcelona President Joan Laporta welcomed new coach Xavi Hernandez, during their appearance together at his presentation conference at the Camp Nou.
“Today will be a difference in the history of the club,” Laporta said at the conference. “I am very excited.”
Laporta stopped during his speech to listen to the crowd chanting the song “Match Day” for the Barcelona fans, and then shared the singing with them in a funny shot.

And the Catalan club president continued: “Xavi’s return will mark a day of difference in the history of the club. This is an unprecedented presentation for a coach. I have never seen the fans with this enthusiasm before.”
“The credit for this goes to Xavi. He is a man of this house and this club, who has worked so hard to become a mark in this institution. It is a happy day for the Barcelona fans we need.”
Laporta concluded, “Welcome Xavi and his family home. It’s a very exciting day. Long live Barcelona, long live Catalonia.”
Xavi returns to Barcelona as a coach 6 years after his departure as a player in 2015 to Al-Sadd, who retired from its ranks and took over as coach in 2019.
