Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez has decided to sign Dutch star Donny van de Beek from Manchester United.
Van de Beek had been linked with a move to Barcelona since he was a player in Ajax Amsterdam, but he eventually moved to the Red Devils.
A report published by the Catalan newspaper Sport stated that the former Barcelona technical official, Ramon Blanes, contacted Van de Beek to discuss the possibility of his transfer to Barcelona.
The report stressed that the young Dutch player welcomed the idea, given that his position at United is not positive. The Catalan newspaper confirmed that Xavi rejected the idea of contracting with Van de Beek, stressing that the team does not need more midfielders.
Van de Beek moved to Manchester United in September 2020, but since then he has played only 42 matches in all competitions, scoring two goals and making two goals for his teammates.
His most prominent station remains his club, which witnessed his debut, Ajax Amsterdam, who played for his first team 175 matches in all competitions, scoring 41 goals and assisting 34 goals for his teammates.
