Spain coach Luis Enrique gave unlimited support to Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez, stressing that the Catalan team is developing under his leadership at the present moment and all he needs is to give him the “confidence” necessary to change things at the Camp Nou.
Enrique’s statements came while he was at the Santiago Bernabeu to attend the last La Liga summit between Real Madrid and Atlético Madrid, which followed Barcelona’s disappointing draw with Osasuna away with two goals for each team.
Enrique told the media, “It’s very easy, you have to give confidence to Xavi, he is someone who is able to change things, I have already seen an improvement in Barcelona in the recent period.”
He continued, “Even if this improvement is not what the blocs want, it will take some time, and it will not be as long as some might imagine.”
He also concluded his speech by saying, “You have to give him confidence, the main thing that is needed now is to restore confidence, you do not get the medicine and you feel better immediately.”
Enrique, from the heart of the Santiago Bernabeu, had confirmed that the Spanish League had not ended with Real Madrid’s victory in the derby, given that the competition was still very long.
Real Madrid leads the Spanish league standings with 42 points, while the closest pursuers, Seville, come second with 34 points and a game less.
As for Barcelona, its condition is very miserable, as it occupies eighth place with only 24 points from 16 games.
