FC Barcelona has officially announced the inclusion of 17-year-old winger Fabio Blanco to the club’s second team. The young striker has been hailed as the ‘new Torres’ by many due to the similarity in his playing style.
The teenager signed with the team of Sergey Barguan, until June 2024, with a penalty clause of 100 million euros.
In terms of profile, the Almeria-born player works on the right wing and is particularly known for his individual ability. His good record in front of goal is a further boost to the Barcelona B team that has consistently lost players to the first team this season.
Blanco started his footballing journey in Valencia and had several major European clubs, including Barcelona and Real Madrid, interested in signing him. However, he chose to switch to the Bundesliga, a move that did not bode well for him.
In more than 600 minutes of football with Eintracht Frankfurt U19 team, he scored two goals while assisting once. His lack of importance in Germany was a decisive factor in engineering his return to Spain.
The signing of the young striker plays perfectly into Xavi’s philosophy of nurturing and developing the team’s youth. With Pedri, Jaffe and Nicogonzalez being the prime examples of the teenagers who made it big in Barcelona, Blanco could be the next name on the list.
