Spanish press reports announced that Barcelona has settled with one of the players in the ranks of Chelsea, in order to play in the “Camp Nou” during the next season.
According to the Spanish “El Chiringuito” program, Barcelona decided the Azpilicueta deal next summer, as it agreed with the player on a two-year contract, with an optional third season.
Spanish defender Cesar Azpilicueta’s contract with Chelsea is due to expire next summer, and he can now sign for free with any club.
The program said that the center of the Spanish defense is interested in Xavi Hernandez, coach of Barcelona, who admires the ability of the Spanish defender to play in all positions in the back line.
Reports had previously emerged claiming that Azpilicueta’s agent offered the player’s services first to Real Madrid, but the royal club did not show interest in the deal, preferring to sign his colleague Antonio Rudiger.
Barcelona won a hard-fought victory over its counterpart Alaves, who is in the penultimate position of the La Liga table, with a clean goal scored by Dutchman Frenkie de Jong in the 87th minute of the match, to jump to fifth place, with 35 points, one point behind Atletico Madrid, which is in In fourth place.
