Press sources revealed that the Spanish coach, Xavi Hernandez, coach of Barcelona, has asked the Catalan club’s management to sign one of the Italian league stars in the next summer Mercato.
According to the Catalan newspaper, “Sport”, Barcelona is monitoring the situation of Ivorian Frank Kessie, Milan midfielder, to include him in a free transfer deal, after the end of his contract next July.
The newspaper pointed out that Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez put Casey at the top of his goals in the next summer Mercato.
The newspaper reported that Barcelona refused to include Casey last summer, during the period of Ronald Koeman’s leadership of the team.
The newspaper said that Barcelona needed a midfielder last summer, and Koeman chose at the time to sign his compatriot Georginio Wijnaldum, who preferred to move to Paris Saint-Germain.
Koeman justified his refusal to sign Casey by saying that the Ivorian midfielder did not have the technical capabilities to match Barcelona’s style of play.
