The Uruguayan star, Ronald Araujo, Barcelona defender, expressed his regret after his disgraceful behavior during his team’s match against his neighbor Espanyol, in the 25th round of the Spanish League.

For his part, Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo apologized to the Espanyol fans through his official accounts on social media.

Barcelona could not achieve victory over Espanyol, and settled with a draw point (2-2), and the equalizing goal was scored by Luke de Jong in the last seconds of the match that brought them together on Sunday.

Ronald Araujo suffered an injury in the first half of the match, and was spotted on the bench saying offensive words to Espanyol after the verbal altercation that occurred between Melamed and Gerard Pique, where he said, “To the second degree, to the second degree.”

After the match, 23-year-old defender Ronald Araujo published a letter of apology to Espanyol through his official account on Instagram, in which he said, “I want to apologize to all members of the Espanyol team for the unfortunate gesture I made, everything was the result of tension in the derby match.”

And the Catalan central defender continued, “I consider myself a person who respects the amateur degrees and competing clubs, and for this reason I am not proud of what I have done.”

It is worth noting that Araujo was referring in his words to Espanyol’s relegation to the second division last season, which angered the Catalan team players and the fans at the “Power” stadium.
