Barcelona defender Gerard Pique sparked a series of widespread controversy on social media, after his behavior towards his colleague in the Spanish national team, Iker Casillas, the former Real Madrid and Porto goalkeeper, because of the latest photos published by the player nicknamed “The Saint”.
Casillas posted a picture of him through his official account on the social networking site “Instagram” and commented on it, saying: “The countryside is wonderful, the bliss of calm.”
But Barcelona defender Pique took this photo and mocked his La Roja colleague, saying: “It looks like you hit a train.”
Pique’s words refer to Casillas, in reference to the saint’s advanced age, and the change in his features, which became larger than they were due to the age factor.
Pique is known for using his permanent accounts on social networking sites for comments on all areas, whether in sports, politics, controversy, irony, and others.
Casillas announced his retirement from football in 2020 after heart problems prevented him from completing his career with the Porto team, which he joined after leaving Real Madrid, where he spent many long years.
The saint is currently an ambassador within the Real Madrid Foundation, where he travels on many of their projects.
