Argentine international Angel Di Maria plans to leave Paris Saint-Germain after the end of the current season, according to the Spanish newspaper “AS”.
The 33-year-old’s contract with the Paris club expires in the summer of this year, and it does not seem that he wants to sign an extension that will keep him at the Parc des Princes for a longer period.
The team’s early exit from the Champions League prompted the former Manchester United and Real Madrid star to insist on leaving.
Di Maria is waiting for the end of the season to become a free player, and the former Portuguese Benfica player, who rose to prominence with him during the period between 2007 and 2010, wants to go through another experience before bidding farewell to the green rectangle.
Di Maria struggled to participate mainly this season with the arrival of Lionel Messi, and booked him alongside Neymar and Mbappe, the main centers of the Paris giant’s attack.
French radio station RMC confirmed that Paris Saint-Geran will not extend Angel Di Maria’s contract, and will not do the option to extend it for an additional year, as his current contract allows.
The option to extend for an additional year is up to the agreement between the two parties, but Paris Saint-Germain does not intend to continue Angel Di Maria, and leaves it to him to dispose of his future.
In the midst of all this, Barcelona wants to include Di Maria and is pursuing the Argentine winger to replace Osman Dembele, especially since the Catalan club’s policy is to sign players for free after the expiry of their contracts.
It is noteworthy that the Argentine participated in 25 games with Paris Saint-Germain this season in all competitions so far and visited the net only 3 times, while making 5 other goals.
