Winger Ousmane Dembele highly appreciates the fact that Barcelona representative, Mateo Al Yamani, has been sent to Morocco to start negotiations with his agent Moussa Sissoko over a new contract.
As reported by Mundo Deportivo, the latter approach was not fruitful as no progress was made even though Barcelona believed they made an important showing.
The good thing for both the team and the player is that everything is still in place and everyone is looking forward to having productive sessions in the future.
Alemani held a meeting with Sissoko in Marrakesh on Tuesday where the agenda was largely clear. It’s no secret that the massive rebound in Dembele’s desire to continue despite a fiasco in the entire month of January is greatly appreciated by Barcelona.
There are still obvious differences but this is understandable since the date of the last contact between the two dates back to December 2021. Since then, Barcelona has not received any response from the player’s camp.
Alemani, who traveled to Morocco without a second in command, Jordi Cruyff, has publicly expressed Barcelona’s desire to continue with Dembele. Although it is still believed that the player needs to make some concessions in order to secure a new contract.
Meanwhile, Dembele is insisting on getting a contract that would put him on the same level with what Samuel Umtiti and Antoine Griezmann were getting from their previous contracts.
He learned that Dembele had not actually signed any pre-contract agreement with a foreign team. But Sissoko reminded Barcelona that they have no shortage of good suitors.
