Joan Laporta, president of Barcelona, has sparked enthusiasm among the Catalan fans about the approach of the Blaugrana to contract with the expected deal during the summer Mercato.
For his part, Barcelona President Juan Laporta sent a reassuring message about the possibility of the Catalan team contracting with Polish star Robert Lewandowski, Bayern Munich’s top scorer.
A video clip has spread widely in the past few hours documenting Laporta’s response to a fan’s request to take a picture with him after Barcelona’s 1-0 victory over its host Real Sociedad yesterday, Thursday, at the end of the 33rd round of the “La Liga”.
The fan asked the Catalan club president, “Will Lewandowski join Barcelona next summer?”, and Laporta immediately replied to him, saying: “There are great possibilities for him to come.”
The 33-year-old Lewandowski’s contract with his Bavarian club is scheduled to expire at the end of next season in the summer of 2023, and the two parties have not reached an agreement on the renewal, so far.
On the other hand, the negotiations between Lewandowski and the Bayern Munich administration are witnessing some disputes regarding the annual salary as well as the contract term, as the player wants to sign for several seasons.
According to the French newspaper, L’Equipe, there is a point of disagreement between the player and the club’s management, over the terms of the new contract, as Lewandowski requests an extension for another two years with an increase in his salary.
But the Bavarian club management offered him a renewal for one year, with the same current salary.
Moreover, the newspaper confirmed that Lewandowski is also not happy to work with the Bavarian coach, Julian Nagelsmann, as he sees that the method of playing reduces his risk in the matches.
And in confirmation of Laporta’s statement, a report from the famous Spanish “El Chiringuito” program recently revealed the details of Barcelona’s offer to the Polish star to join him during the upcoming summer transfer market.
According to the report, Barcelona offered Lewandowski a salary of 8 million euros, net annually, and a contract that extends for 3 seasons.
A French press report revealed, today, Saturday, the point of contention in the renewal negotiations between Polish striker Robert Lewandowski, Bayern Munich, and his club.
