The goal was classic Barcelona – a stylish bicycle kick into the net from the edge of the area.
But when 18-year-old Barca youth team player Fermín López marked his wonder goal by performing Cristiano Ronaldo’s trademark SIUUU celebration, he found himself censored by his own club.
In an indication there remains no love lost between Barcelona and the former Real Madrid forward, the celebration was edited out when Lopez’s goal was posted on the club’s social media accounts.

But as Spanish newspaper Marca pointed out, if you run the clip on, the teenager copies the leap, semi-turn and shout celebration Ronaldo has become known for.
Ronaldo, now 37 and a Manchester United player, has been a scourge of Barcelona throughout his career, scoring 20 goals in 34 meetings with them.
Only against fellow LaLiga clubs Sevilla, Atletico Madrid and Getafe has Ronaldo scored more goals than against the Nou Camp club.
However, he doesn’t have an entirely positive record in terms of outcomes. Ronaldo has won 10, drawn nine and lost 15 of his career meetings with Barcelona.
Defeats included the 2009 Champions League final when he was at United the first time around and a defeat in the Champions League semi-finals to Pep Guardiola’s Barcelona in 2011.

He then ran to the corner, pursued by team-mates, and performed the SIUUU celebration
But he nonetheless enjoyed scoring against Barca when in Real colours and also at Juventus, where he netted twice in the Nou Camp in the 2020-21 Champions League group stages.
His SIUUU celebration has become a familiar sight at United this season where Ronaldo’s 22 goals have proved rare highlights in a season of misery and underachievement at Old Trafford.
He performed it while scoring a hat-trick against Norwich City in his last home game, even allowing United youngster Anthony Elanga to jump with him after scoring from his pass.

Lopez plays for Barca’s Juvenil A team and scored the goal in question in a 3-2 win over Cornella on Sunday. Barca’s Instagram account captioned the post: ‘What a goal! Es-pec-ta-cu-lar’ and used the hashtag #MadeInLaMasia in reference to their famous academy.
But they clearly didn’t like the goal enough to run the replica of Ronaldo’s celebration as well.
