According to information received by the Spanish newspaper, “Mundo Deportivo”, Barcelona, ​​in recent days, began communicating with representatives of Alejandro Grimaldo, the left-back of Benfica, who has a contract with the Portuguese team until 2023.

And the Spanish “Mundo Deportivo” confirmed that Alejandro Grimaldo wants to play for Barcelona, ​​​​and negotiations between the company that represents him and Barcelona are going well, with the end of his contract approaching in the summer of 2023.

The newspaper said, that the Barca administration has already agreed with Grimaldo’s representatives to meet soon during the coming days to discuss the deal.

Grimaldo is good at playing in the position occupied by Jordi Alba, the Catalan team’s back, whose level has declined significantly in the recent period.

The newspaper reported that Grimaldo had received an offer to renew with his Portuguese club, but his priority was to return to Barcelona, ​​​​who spent a period with him from 2008 to 2015.

Grimaldo had played with before in Barcelona’s youth, and he knows the Blaugrana style after its founding in the Catalan club.

The newspaper claimed that Benfica, for its part, does not mind the departure of Grimaldo in the event of an offer of about 10 million euros, especially since he has one year left on his contract.

It should be noted that the 22-year-old played for Benfica during that period in 248 matches, during which he scored 19 goals.

It is worth noting that Grimaldo moved from Barcelona to Benfica at the end of 2015 for 1.5 million euros, as Barca owns 10% of the right to sell the player in the future.
