Barcelona has some exciting young talents coming from the youth ranks and one of those players who makes people sit up and take note of his abilities is Fabio Blanco.
The 18-year-old is widely regarded as one of Spain’s most promising young talents, and is the product of Valencia’s youth academy. As the summer of last year approached, the young striker was attracting the attention of many clubs.
Barcelona, Real Madrid and Juventus were among those who approached Blanco, but he chose to join German club Eintracht Frankfurt instead. However, the move did not work out well for the young player, and Barcelona took him out in January earlier this year.
Since his arrival, the 18-year-old has been playing for the club’s B team and has made a good impression. In 11 matches, Blanco scored four goals, impressing with his attacking acumen and versatility in the final third.
In fact, first-team coach Xavi Hernandez has also been left so impressed with the former Valencia star, that there are plans to speed up his path to the first team for next season.
However, as reported by Diario AS, Barcelona does not rule out the possibility of selling Blanco in the summer as its value has increased significantly in recent months and helps the club turn a profit, which would be beneficial in the current financial climate.
The report states that both the Dutch giants, Ajax and Borussia Dortmund, the German league giants, are interested in signing Blanco from Barcelona in the upcoming transfer window.
The final decision on the future of the young player will be up to Xavi and whether he wants the Spaniard as part of his plans for next season. Anyway, Blaugrana will not have a term loan deal.
Instead, Barcelona’s priority will be to sell Blanco, potentially to a club that plays in Europe, which both Ajax and Dortmund will do, with the introduction of a buyback option in the future. It remains to be seen what the future holds for the exciting youngsters of summer.
